Katrina

Here is my latest senior portrait. Oh what fun we had in the rain!!! The weather just didn't seem to want to cooperate both times we attempted the outdoor shoot but we made it and look how sweet.

Jacob

This past week I had the pleasure of taking Jacob's Senior portrait.  We had beautiful weather and an array of natural backgrounds to choose from. Here is a peak at a few of  the proofs.

Back in the Groove

So I have been on hiatus for a few months, but now I am ready to begin anew.  Its almost Fall and that means lots of Senior Portraits. I have been checking out the latest trends and hope to use that inspiration to bring a new look to my portfolio.   I photographed a very unique person recently.  Arielle is a natural model and even though she is not a senior, the portraits are good examples of the new  trends I was talking about.

The Way I See It

Somewhere along the way of life, my view ... photography speaking... started to change. The way I looked at things around me when I was a new adult has shifted, and narrowed.  I have allowed myself to stop seeing the simple beauty around me.  Ever since being reunited with many of my college friends, I have been remembering how I use to see the world, and although my life is very different now, I want to see the world again through those eyes.  So with that in mind, I decided that everyday for the next month, I will take photographs of something. I will choose to look at things I see differently and capture that with my camera. I am very excited. I will try to add them daily on here, or at least every few days.
On Tuesday, my husband and I set off to find something fun to photograph. What we found was these amazing metal bins. There are so many colors and hues. I love experimenting with angles too. On Wed. I chose to take some photos of my youngest son. He is growing and changing everyday now and I love how some of his attitude comes out in this photo. I also shot a few of  this really cool bike.
Today I went to a friends farm and was able to capture these beautiful photos with a little hint of spring. I LOVE her farm, it is the perfect place to take pictures because the lighting is perfect in both the morning and the evening.

Morning Mist

There is just something about a foggy morning that excites me. Maybe it adds a bit of mystery to the day, who knows but I do love the fog in the morning. This morning I had to capture the views from my house. I wanted to spend the morning photographing but work was calling me. I did however challenge myself to go somewhere and take some sort of picture every day for the next month. I am looking forward to all my new adventures.

Good Times

About a month ago I joined Facebook.  Since joining, I have reconnected with about 20 old friends from my College days, and there have been a whirlwind of memories flying around ever since. It seems like everyday, there is someone else who has turned up.
It is interesting to see people after almost 25 years, how they have changed, what their interests are now, their families. It has reminded me about how much I have changed.
I spent 3 years of my life with these people and they were my family.  We looked out for each other and loved each other.  They are the ones who share my memories of that time. I  couldn't know how they were helping to shape my life and who I would become.
We are all hoping to plan a reunion so we can reconnect in person and Share more memories.
Because we went to a photography school, of course there were lots of photos taken. We have all been posting them on our Facebook pages and Oh Boy have they brought back memories. Sometimes you just need a photograph to refresh a long forgotten memory.

Girl Power

I live in a house full of boys. It isn't always easy. I love them dearly but secretly I long for a girl in the house with me.
This weekend we were blessed to have our niece N come and stay with us. N is 10 yrs old and we haven't been able to spend a lot of time with her over the years. N is smart and sensitive. I love being around her. Last night I told her we would watch a movie and she could pick it out. She picked out Titanic, which EVERYONE in our house loves. It was a lovely evening.
My two boys are not used to having a little girl around the house. They are pretty self centered and I was concerned they would be unwilling to hang out with their little cousin.
To my surprise, I watched my young men melt around her. They were kind, helpful and even gave up time with friends willingly because they wanted to spend time with her.  They didn't lose their patience with her or get bored doing things with her. It was pretty magical to watch.
N LOVES animals. Our cats were well pampered while she was here. She insisted I take a pic of her holding each one of  them. She also loves to draw and I happily photographed her with her wonderful pieces of art.
We had a fabulous visit, and can't wait for her to come back.
